Welcome to Stockholm Triathlon - August 25, 2019

Welcome to Stockholm Triathlon 2019! We know many of you are doing your first triathlon competition so below you'll find lot of information that is good to know. In addition to general information, there are some rules that are important to know for your and others safety.

More information about how the competition itself is also available on our website. There will also be officials in the arena who can answer your questions.

Read the information below carefully as it contains important information about the competition!

Most important rules to follow
- Wetsuit is mandatory during swimming
- Put your helmet on before taking the bike from the bike stand and keep the helmet on until you have hung the bike back again
- You have to step on your bike after the marked line when you are going out on the bike
- You have to get off your bike after the marked line when you have finished cycling and going back into the transition again
- Never cross the center line on the bike
- Keep at least 10 meters gap for the cyclist in front of you, as long as you don't want to pass the one in front of you
- Bypass always takes place on the left side. Facilitate faster participants by always holding to the right
- Cycling / running in bare upper body is not allowed (exceptions in the changing area, girls must wear sports bra)
- It is not allowed to throw littering (bottles, bars, gels etc.) along the course, other than in connection with the liquid stations on the run. Keep the city clean!

Venue
The competition is held on closed streets in the central parts of Stockholm. The transitionarea and finishline are located at the City Hall.

Opening hours at the Venue  Samuel Owens street / Hantverkargatan
Sunday, August 25 from 6am, up to 2 hours before your start in the secretariat.

Please pick up your bib number on Friday or Saturday to avoid the queue on Sunday morning.

Startkit
The starting kit contains bib number, timing chip, velcro tape, 3 stickers one for the bike (attached to the saddle post), one for the helmet (left side attached) and one for the bag.
You also get a swim cap that you must wear during the swim.

Bib number
Note that the bib number must be worn at the back during cycling and forward during running. We recommend that you attach the numbertag to a rubberband around your stomach, so that you can have the patch on your back end during cycling and when you switch to running you turn it to your stomach. We have "Race belts", on which you can attach the bib number, for sale in connection with the bib number distribution.

The bib number must not be worn during swimming, folded, cut or made invisible. For your own safety, write the name and telephone number of the relative on the back of the bib number.

Participants in the competition classes (junior / senior / youth and boy / girl) must have a competition license. In open classes you can compete without a license and you do not need to be affiliated with any association. General information

EXPO
Meet our partners Wahoo, On Running, TYR and Umara. In addition, Hyrkocken is on site with food and CoffeeCow serves coffee.

DNF
If you are forced to break the competition make sure to notify the nearest official and hand in your chip in the target area.

CUT OFFS
You must have started the run no later than 14:45 and finish at 15:30.

ENVIRONMENT
The Stockholm Triathlon cares about the environment. Please help us keep the competition area clean by using the trash cans that are in the area. Also leave the car at home and cycle to the start. Not only is it good for the environment, you also get good heating and no need to look for parking space.

MUSIC PLAYER
It is not allowed to have music players or mobile with them during the competition.

VARIETY
We have tents in the transition area. Unfortunately, we have no opportunity to offer shower opportunities.

PARKING
There are some parking options near the competition area, but no special competition parking. We recommend leaving the car at home if possible.

North Mälarstrand. If you arrive before the first start at 08.00, you can cross the cycle path and park after Norr Mälarstrand, towards the water. Emissions from the parking lot occur after the last participants have finished cycling about 14:45.
City Hall garage (Kungsholmsgatan) & Street parking Kungsholmen.

HEALTHCARE
We have a healthcare team from Livtjänst during the competition. There are also healthcare professionals in the target area. A medical tent with a stationed team will be located near the target area. Team # 2 will be around the bike lane.
Livetdienst also stands for water safety and is included in the water during the swim.

TIMING
In the start kit there is a chip with Velcro for timing. The strap with the chip should be attached at the bottom of the left ankle during the entire race. No chip = No time. In particular, check that the chip remains after you have removed your wetsuit. Do not walk on the timing mats before you start! After finishing we take care of the chip. If you do not return your chip to the officials at the finish, we will have to charge you SEK 200.

TOILETS
Toilets are arranged in several places within the competition area.

SPECTATOR
From the competition area outside Stadshuset you can see swimming, swings, running and finishing. To see the cycling you can walk a few hundred meters away towards Rålambshovsparken where the turning of the cycling is located.

Transition

Cykelspecialisten will be on site in Stockholm next to the transition area to help with any last minute problems. However, we recommend that you check your bike before you come to the competition so that brakes etc. work.

When you check into the gear area, we check the bike, especially brakes, and that the helmet is approved (has CE or other safety mark). Then hang up your bike at the designated location. Bring as little things with you into the changeover area as possible, just what you need for the competition, as there is little space. We have no luggage storage or valuables handed in. Make sure you have your stuff in your place so that they are not in the way of others. Own plastic box is allowed, transparent or white, maximum size length / width / height 50x40x30 cm. The box should fit in your own changing area, not disturb others.

Remember that competition lasts all day, so make sure you move in the change area and make sure you are not in the way of other competitors. Only contestants and officials are allowed in the change area. Check-out by showing the license plate, which should then match the sticker on the bike. Be afraid of your license plate!

All entry and exit to the changeover area outside the competition is done via the "Check-in" inputs / outputs.

Swim

NOTE! Wetsuit is mandatory. Any model of wetsuit is allowed.

Warm up is allowed in the water to the left of the start, off the swimming track. Be observant of other participants and boats in the water!

Swim cap is mandatory. You should be at the swimming start no later than 15 minutes before the start. A brief review of the course and rules will also be held.

The distance of the swim course is shown in the map below.

In competition classes and exercise relay we have water start.

In the exercise classes we have rolling starts down in the water. We have 120 people in a startup group who can then go in water when the start time is up. All competitors then walk along a timing mat into the water and swim away. Timing starts when you pass the starter mat.

If you find yourself in trouble call for help. There are kayaks, boats and lifeguards in the water during swimming. It is allowed to stay in kayaks or boats if you need to rest a little, as long as they do not move.

Bike

The helmet need to be snapped before taking your bike and then remain until you have reset your bike after finishing cycling. Cycling is not allowed in the transition area.
The route of the bike course is shown in the map below, as well as the appropriations in the competition area. Olympic distance rides four laps, sprint two laps and supersprint one lap, all with turning points just before Slussen. Please note that it is the participant's own responsibility to cycle the correct number of laps!

There should be no traffic at the course. The traffic guards are primarily responsible for stopping traffic, not showing the road. It is up to you as a competitor to know the stretch of the track. Keep right and pay attention to your surroundings.

There will be judges on motorcycles along the bike lane.
Centerline
Cycling over the center line leads to disqualification (red card), no matter where on the course this happens. However, pay particular attention to the following passages:
- The exit Västerbron towards Rålambshovsparken. The lane goes on the bike path across the Västerbron and in the downhill, many come up at speeds above 60km / h. Extra attention is required in the subsequent right turn and when going down the road again.
- The intersection Rålambshovsleden / Gjörwellsgatan at Rålambshovsparken. Here, too, extra attention is required when contestants are met by a very sharp 90-degree turn. Slow down and pay attention.
- Turning points. At the turning point on Norr Mälarstrand you are the one who will turn left (in the lane) and you who will be back in the switch area pass to the right.

The 10 m rule
Drafting is prohibited in all classes. During the cycle, a gap of at least 10 meters must be kept to the athlete in front of you. Bypass may only be done on the left side and take a maximum of 20 seconds. Those who are overturned must fall back to a distance of at least 10 meters immediately when you are passed. It is also forbidden to cycle side by side. Penalty for blue card from referee: 1 minute (supersprint / sprint) / 2 minutes (Olympic) in penalty box. Repeated scrolling or ignoring the judge's words can result in disqualification, red card.

Littering
Deliberate littering can lead to immediate disqualification. For accidental littering, time is allocated in the penalty box. To be able to arrange races like this one requires that we take care of and leave our courses clean after us. Help us keep the city clean! Punishment for a yellow card and the refusal of refusal by judges:
10 seconds (supersprint / sprint) in penalty box
15 seconds (Olympic) in penalty box

Penaltybox
Penalty box means that if you get a yellow or blue card from a referee during the cycling, you must stop in the first penalty box you pass after being warned. On the bike there is the penalty box just before the turn at the shift area on the bike lane. If you are awarded a red card, it means disqualification.
Picture

Run

There will be a lot of people on the runcourse at the same time. Keep right and pay attention. It is a lap course of 2.5km. Olympic distance runs four laps, sprint two laps and supersprint one lap, all with turning points at Stadshuset. Note that it is the participant's own responsibility to run the correct number of turns.

Aid station
There is a aid station when you leave the transition area. Water and sports drinks are served there
from Umara. There is also an aid station shortly after Norrbro (Riksdagshuset). It serves water and sports drinks from Umara.

Policy
It is not allowed to have traction assistance from non-competitors in front, after or next to whatever distance.
Punishment: Disqualification of the contestant, red card. It is also not allowed to run with music players or with bare torso.

Littering
Littering is prohibited along the entire course except at the fluid controls. Deliberate littering can lead
to immediate disqualification. For accidental littering, time is allocated in the penalty box. To be able to arrange races like this one requires that we take care of and leave our courses clean after us. Help us keep the city clean! Punishment for a yellow card and a notice of refusal by judges:
10 seconds (supersprint / sprint) in penalty box.
15 seconds (Olympic) in penalty box.

Penaltybox
If you get a yellow card from a referee during the run, you must stop in the penalty box before you go to goal. The penalty box on the racetrack is located just before the turnaround / finish. If you are awarded a red card, it means disqualification.

Relay
The start kit for the relay team contains 1 x swim cap, 2 x number tags, 1 x timing chip,
1x sticker for the bike (attached to the seat post) and 1x sticker for the helmet (attached to the left side). Switching for relay teams takes place in the switching area, at the team's bicycle space. Here is the team's cyclist and takes / gets the chip from the swimmer. Then he / she cycles off. The runner faces the next shift prepared at the same location and takes / gets the chip from the cyclist. The chip is thus your relay stick and should sit on the ankle of the competitor. It is allowed for the whole team to run the last 100 meters into the goal together. Take into account other competitors.
